Vicky Kaushal who started off his career with working as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap in the two-part crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and late essayed minor roles in films like Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012) and Bombay Velvet (2015). It was only in 2015, when Vicky Kaushal got his first major break  by playing the lead role in 2015 independent film Masaan directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. Masaan rose to prominence, and won him IIFA and Screen Awards for Best Male Debut. With this, little do we all know, before Masaan he filmed Zubaan, where his role was of a grieving man who starts stammering after the death of his father, the film marked its release in the 2015 Busan International Film Festival.

After his success with Raazi, he said “If there are expectations and pressure from audience then it means they care for you. It is a good thing, I take it as a positive thing.”

Vicky Kaushal’s performance in Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju has received appreciation from both critics and fans. Vicky, who plays the role of Sanjay Dutt’s best friend Kamlesh Kanhaiyalal Kapasi aka Kamli, said that the best compliment for his performance came from none other than the actor who is the inspiration of the film.

After watching Sanju, Sanjay Dutt told Vicky Kaushal: “I got really emotional with your performance. You have truly portrayed the meaning of friendship, and your act is accurate when I think of the friends I have had. Puttar, tune dil jeet liya.”

Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)

“Uri was a physically and emotionally draining film, so it feels good to see the way it resonated with the audience. The National Award was the cherry on top” said Vicky Kaushal in an Interview.
